My idea for the project is The mass Media and You. I am currently teaching two Year 10 Media Studies classes and I intend to use them as guinea pigs at some point to trial this unit.
My idea for a project involving the use of the Visual Ranking Tool is:How has the power of the mass media changed over time?[[
Yr 10's make good guinea pigs.
I can see that your unit already has strong direction and that the thinking tools will enhance opportunities for higher order thinking and engagement.

My first Seeing Reason Project is:Referring to the movie 1984 How can the mass media be used to control people’s lives?
The first one is about the mass media are used to control people's lives in the movie made from George Orwell's novel 1984. The second is more general - how the mass media influence and control our lives. I have trialled the second one myself but I'm not sure whether the students will 'get it' or whether the leap from where they are now to where I want them to be will be too big. Perhaps I will need to give them a scaffold to build their brainstorming on. For example a table like this:
This is the last day of my INTEL Master Trainer course. I have just created a Wiki to use with my participating teachers when I get back to school.
